more open project progress
a photograph I took combined with an etching I made the same day. I also included a photograph of an apple sewed up and dipped in beeswax, which served as the model for the etching. will hopefully turn this image into a photopolymer intaglio etching or inkjet print with intaglio plate overprinted on top of it....

added some yellow and another layer to tie this into the other 2. also rotated the image inside this other layer to give it a transparency feel
meiosis inside bee hive in progress
step 1: layer scanned meiosis onto stock photo of hive
step 2: color cells in and add stock texture of tree "veins". masking was done to erase some of the texture to reveal the shape of comb.
step 3: add lines and adjust levels to brighten. still looks a bit flat
step 4: FINAL IMAGE- removed some lines and reveal thinner ones to add variation and areas of focus, saturate color and crop.

sequential narrative in progress
these images were made by combing a scan of a scratched transparency of mitosis photograph from internet, and a photo I took of my rabbit, then a photo my friend took of me holding squash. I am combining images of cell growth and plant and animal life to manifest a connection between our health and the natural world we often feel separate from. without the health of animal and plant life we will become sick too. widespread diabetes and cancer are some of the signs of this danger we put ourselves in as we treat our environment as a waste site and unlimited resource.with this work, however, I intend to create visual interest and humor before beating someone over the head with the meaning.
the final print will have several images on same page.
